Finally, sprinters with climbing skills could also be a threat, expecially the likes of Peter Sagan, Michael Matthews, Sonny Colbrelli and Caleb Ewan.
Other strong contenders are Alejandro Valverde, Max Schachmann and Matej Mohoric while GC contenders will save their legs for the first mountain finish to the Planche des Belles Filles on Thursday.
